The £242m merger of platform Nucleus and SIPP and SSAS provider Curtis Banks has received regulatory approval after the conclusion of a review by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Sky News is reporting that wealth manager and Financial Planner Brooks Macdonald is plotting a £300m bid for fund manager 7IM.

The Competition and Markets Authority has provisionally blocked the ‘mega-merger’ of platform providers FNZ and GBST due to concerns that the tie-up would hit competition and may lead to investors paying more.

The Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating the completed acquisition of GBST Holdings Limited by FNZ (Australia) Bidco Pty Ltd.
The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and the Institute of Financial Planning have signed and exchanged contracts confirming that the merger of the two institutes will go ahead as planned.
