NatWest buys workplace pension firm Cushon for £144m

NatWest is to acquire a majority shareholding in Cushon, the workplace savings and pensions fintech, for £144m. NatWest will take a 85% of Cushon with Cushon management retaining 15%. The bank says the deal will enable it to offer Cushon’s financial wellbeing products to its commercial customers. Cushon’s main products are its workplace ISA and sustainably-focused master trust pension. It also offers Junior and Lifetime ISAs, as well as a general investment account. Completion of the intended acquisition requires regulatory approval and is expected to occur later in 2023. Cushon’s products will initially be offered to NatWest Group’s commercial mid-market customers following a successful pilot in 2022. NatWest says Cushon will continue its organic growth ambitions in the workplace pensions and savings market as well as distributing to NatWest commercial customers.
