An MP has proposed plans to lower the age for auto-enrolment from 22 to 18 and to extend the scheme to lower and part-time earners.

Retirement provider XPS Pension Group says its Pension Transfer Value Index climbed to a new high of £270,000 at the end of November due to forecasts of increased inflation and a dip in gilt yields.

Back in May I talked about the FCA’s proposal to get more people using Pension Wise guidance before they accessed their pension. Bonfire Night itself caused less of a bang with the introduction of the new rules on the statutory right to transfer.

The House of Lords has voted to reject a controversial bill to suspend the Pensions Triple Lock and instead sent the bill back to the Commons to be reconsidered.

The decision to raise the normal minimum pension age (NMPA) from 55 to 57 was announced back in 2014 at the same time as Pension Freedoms. Clearly this wasn’t the big headline at the time but now we have draft legislation we are seeing news stories as some of the complexities of how the change is being implemented come to light.
